Right-hand drive chassis number 1854 was originally delivered to Alec Mildren PTY Ltd, of Pacific Highway, Pymble, NSW, Australia in September 1970. Ordered in Verde Gemma (green) with Bianca (white) leather interior, the car resided in the sunny climate of Australia’s New South Wales until it was shipped to the UK in 1990. MoTd that same year, it was first registered in the UK in June 1991.
From late 1994 through to May 1995 Windmill Classics carried out a body restoration at a cost of some £9,500, which included the replacement of both sills and footwell panels. The rubbers were replaced on refitting and the car fully serviced before being returned to its owner.
In 1996 the car was sent to marque specialists Bill McGrath Ltd for a strip and rebuild of the engine (£10,300) and a full mechanical and detail refreshment (£3,669). McGrath continued to maintain the car, there being further bills on file including one for rebuilds of the suspension, brakes and steering in 2000 at a cost of some £6,500.

2004 saw the engine removed once again and returned to McGrath for a complete strip and rebuild (£18,000) while additional sums of £9,000 and £4,200 were spent on further restoring and perfecting the car, including the fitment of a stainless-steel exhaust system. In 2005 the chromework was re-plated and refitted along with new rear numberplate lights.

This Maserati was first registered on 2nd September of 1970 by an Italian. (Original registration certificate available).
The car remained the following 19 years in Italy, before it was bought by an Englishman in 1989.
In 1993, he let the coupé be completely restored by a specialist workshop.
Since about a decade, the Ghibli is now in Germany. The owner always maintained the car very well and took a lot of care. According to his statement, he drove the Maserati about 20.000 km over the last years, without problems!

Many invoices/letters and original documents come with the car.A left-hand drive model fitted with the desirable ZF five-speed manual gearbox, this Ghibli Coupé was imported into the UK from Italy in the late 1980s (a copy of the Italian registration documents on file shows that the car was from Genoa). Since importation, the car has had two owners prior to the vendor, the first being solicitor Jonathan Kellet who owned it from 1989 until 1997 when it was purchased by Mr George Campbell. Expired MoTs on file show that the car only travelled 6,000-or-so kilometres in that period, Completely restored in 1993 including bodywork, interior and chrome trim. Since 2008 in Germany, the car made a total 20.000 km, being consistently maintained and kept in well shape. Sold to the present owner in 2019.
Since then, the car went through a thorough technical check-up and was brought back to complete originality. Tool kit and jack included.
The car is a matching numbers vehicle with a Maserati Classiche certificate. Complete ownership history and extensive technical documentation including reports and invoices available.

Chassis number ‘AM.115.1214’, was purchased by the vendor’s father circa 1974 when it was registered ‘FUD 270J’. The personalised plate ‘193 MPH’ was added soon after and the car kept barn-stored from the mid-1980s onwards. Presented in unrestored condition, the Maserati was MoT’d in 2023 but has not been driven on the road and may well require additional recommissioning before further use. Our vendor describes the Ghibli as in good order mechanically, with bodywork good for its age and paintwork, interior and electrics as ‘moderate’. Accompanying documentation consists of some old MoTs, and old-style logbook (1987), and a current V5C Registration Certificate. Offered from long term ownership it will be rewarding to see this Ghibli back on the roads once again.Coming up for auction 2024
