Not Sold Automobiles, Artcurial – Briest – Poulain Le Fur (15 December 2003)
Exceptional restoration in original colour In exceptional condition today, this Maserati Ghibli has had only three owners from new. Fabio Collina confirmed that it was delivered new in Belgium at the end of 1969, to the Oscar Loupar mill (as can be seen on the old registration papers); it was then bought in 1988 by the well-known collector and car maker Edmond Pery, who in turn sold it to our client in 2004. The history file includes the original Belgian certificate of conformity dated 5 January 1970, and the car has the Belgian importer’s plate from the time.

Maserati Ghibli, year 1970. Colour dark blue metallic exterior combined with a black leather interior and black carpet. This fantastic Maserati Ghibli is a ‘matching numbers’ car, a factory document to confirm this is present. This wonderful sports car was wonderfully restored over the last years. In the period 2011 – 2012 the car was dismantled, and the bodywork was restored from the bare metal. The body shows a wonderful panel fit, fantastic paintwork and superb brightwork. At the same time the drivetrain, suspension and brakes were overhauled. In 2011 part of the 4,7 Litre V8 engine was overhauled, in 2019 the engine was removed and extensively overhauled and rebuilt professionally. The engine bay was given new paint and the four twin-choke Weber carburettors were cleaned and overhauled. This fantastic Maserati Ghibli is in superb top condition and the car drives and handles perfectly. The original interior was placed back in place after the 2011 body restoration, the interior shows all the original details, and everything is in pristine condition. The service history is fully documented from 1970, invoices and historical documents are present as are photos of the restoration and overhaul works. This magnificent Maserati Ghibli is fitted with the original Campagnolo light allow wheels (perfect condition), a Stainless-Steel exhaust system, and a period correct Becker Mexico stereo cassette radio. Furthermore, the automobile features the highly desirable ZF 5-speed manually operated gearbox which allows the 310 horsepower and 339 Nm of torque to be used with finesse. The car comes with the original tool set. This is a highly desirable Italian gentleman’s sports car in top condition! A powerful and luxurious beauty with an addictive exhaust note.

This offered example from 1970 received a complete and documented revision in ’88 -’89, after which the last owner enjoyed it for a couple of years, before it was carefully put aside in 1993. When we found this Ghibli in its stable, This Maserati was, except for one repaint, in completely original condition: from engine and suspension to even carpets and spare wheel. To guarantee our RNR quality after a long time of no driving, we have overhauled all technical parts: the engine, gearbox, suspension, brakes, etc … (including an extensive series of photos). It’s needless to say that this very original Maserati Ghibli is absolute perfection! In brief: This elegant beast looks the way it drives and sounds: incredible. A very unique car with a lot of potential investment! For sale here May 2020

Sold Paris 2011. The example presented comes from an important German Maserati collection. The car spent many years in the US from where it was imported at the end of the 1980s. It is fitted with the 4.7-litre engine rather than its V8 4.9-litre Type SS engine. Our Ghibli belonged to the Serre Collection, and was parked next to a 275 GTB/4 when it sold to the current owner in 2011. The engine, which has been completely rebuilt, retains all its capability, as evidenced by the report of a compression test of its eight cylinders, available in the file that comes with the car. The ignition has been refurbished, filters and fluids changed, and the carburettors and clutch serviced. In order to ensure that one can fully enjoy the performance a Ghibli is capable of, the brakes and steering box have also been totally refurbished. Our collector, who owns two other Ghibli, ran a high-tech company developing prototype engines for the top German constructors. Using the expertise at his disposal, he had new wheels made to match the original Campognolo wheels but which are two inches wider. Approved by the rigorous TÜV laboratory, these wheels were all cut from a huge alloy block destined for the aeronautical industry. They have an appearance that is identical in every respect to the original wheels but with a diameter of 17 inches rather than 15. An enhancement that perfects a car already highly desirable presented in this blue livery with leather interior, ready to satisfy the most demanding enthusiast.
