Belonged to French Movie star Jean Paul Belmondo. For sale in Netherlands 2012.
At 72,000kms it underwent a complete conversion into a “Ghibli Spyder” by GIORDANENGO (AUTORESTAURO – BOVES – Italy), which was completed in late 2009.

Every item of work has been carried out to the highest possible standard, probably better than an original, using only original MASERATI parts, including:
– Complete disassembling, vermiculage and sanding of the bodywork, including the necessary reinforcement work to the body.
– Finished in original MASERATI polylustre paint (Oro chiaro metallizzato).
– New windscreen, windows, hood frame, new electrical wiring loom, new tyres, new battery.
– The engine has undergone a complete rebuild at 62,000 kms; with new pistons and piston rings, con-rod bearings, timing chains, clutch, starter and alternator.
– All mechanical and ancilliary components checked and replaced where necessary, new cooling fans, new stainless steel exhaust system, major service with complete overhaul of the Weber carburettors.
– Interior re-upholstered in green leather; seats, trim and dashboard, with new all-wool carpets by FERRARESI (FERRARA – Italy). New hood to original MASERATI specification

Artcurial “For sale in our forthcoming auction in Paris, on 17 June 2019:

French title
Chassis n°AM115 950
Engine n° AM115 950

– Fantastic restoration project
– In the same family ownership since almost 30 years
– French car with original engine

This Maserati Ghibli is a rare and exciting restoration project. Our example was sold new in France, delivered to Mr Lauvergnat by the French marque distributor, Thepenier. Built in February 1969, the 4.7-litre car was registered on the 13th of the following month, presented in ” Celeste Chiaro ” with black leather interior, the livery it retains today. In the same family ownership for the last 28 years, this Maserati has not run for many years. There is a record in the file of some mechanical work carried out at the start of the 2000s and a bodywork restoration, which was not carried out in accordance with the rules of the art, was probably undertaken during the 1980s. Offered in sound and complete condition overall, our Ghibli now requires a thorough restoration to return it to its former glory. It may be possible to conserve the original upholstery, its appealing patina offering a glimpse into the soul of the car. It is important to note that it retains its original engine number. The Ghibli is a particularly desirable car and it is very rare to come across such an example suitable for restoration. Here is a fantastic opportunity to revive a legendary automobile that in its day was a rival to the Daytona and the Miura.

Just out of 20 year ownership, this Ghibli has been sitting for the last 10 years and is not currently running but the motor turns freely. Recorded 2015. This example has an original 80,032 Km (49,478 miles). Purchased new by a Doctor in the mild climate of Italy….. bought by the second owner and shipped to San Diego California in 1979. A now retired engineer I bought this car directly from him. It is equipped with the 4.7 engine, ZF 5 Speed manual transmission and Air Conditioning. I have the Maserati “Certificate Of Origin” on hand… Ordered 7/10/1968, built February 1969. Original matching numbers engine and transmission. The color is “Verde Acqua” with “Cinghiale” leather interior.
This example has always been garaged and well cared for, and shows it throughout. A very nice survivor that I have recently restored only where needed. It was to nice and original to do anything more extensive…. It retains all its factory interior with the exception of the recovered front seats to factory specs in matching leather. Repainted for the first time in it’s original color, a tough decision but unfortunately the original paint was beyond saving. Always rust free, no crashes… it was stripped to bare metal with all glass removed. New rubber seals replaced throughout. Re-chromed trim where necessary. The result is stunning and looks factory fresh. Major mechanical service including brakes, rebuilt carburetors, A/C, new stainless steel exhaust and more

Restoration being undertaken. Manufactured in March 1969 for a Mr Michael S Binns who ordered it through Maserati Concessionaires London. Interior colour was white connolly leather, exterior paint Verdi Bosco (wood green). There is a massive gap in its history from when Mr Binns sold it to 1980 which I understand is when DVLA computerised their records, details I have are:
Mr Keith Alan of Birmingham Jan 1980 – still Green!
Mr John Britton of Sparkhill, January 1980 to July 1986
Olton Business Services of Alton March 1983 – Now Red
Mr Andreas Ove Ugland of Egham, July 1986 to October 1994
Mr John Bernard Ugland of Egham, October 1994 to April 2003

This is an “early” series Maserati Ghibli 4.7 Coupe of the year 1969. So still with the old type steering wheel and the tumble switches in the dashboard. Original European version with only 105000 km from new! Exceptional good example with beautiful original red leather interior and wonderful patina. Bodywork very solid, straight, and with perfect panel fits. Technically very well in order, therefore also great driving and working. AC, power steering and tinted glass. Features her original and so “Matching Numbers” engine. Carried out with a perfectly working automatic gearbox, very rare!

The first official car (#1001) was in 1998 with John Ferro in CT/USA
We are proud to announce that this striking 1968 Maserati Ghibli 4.7 Spyder Prototype will take taking center stage when RM makes its triumphant return to California, August 14-15 2015, for our flagship Monterey auction.
Arguably the most significant Maserati Ghibli Spyder in existence, RM Sotheby’s will offer chassis AM115/S 1001 at its Pebble Beach auction on 14-15 August, the first example of this late 1960s convertible ever shown to the public. Featuring styling by Ghia and offered in its original ‘Giallo’ yellow, with contrasting ‘Testa di Moro’ brown interior, the prototype model also carries numerous subtle differences from the later production model, including a longer boot lid and slight recesses in the door panels.
Meeting its first owner in Italy in 1969, the Spyder was imported to the United States in 1975. In 1986, showing 41,000 miles on the clock, it was ‘properly stored’ for nearly 30 years before being bought by its current owner, who arranged for a slight re-commissioning in order to bring chassis 1001 back to life.
