This Maserati Ghibli SS 4.9 was, according to the Maserati factory documents, certificate, letter and other documents, already delivered to the USA and approved in November 1968 and is therefore considered a pre-series or one-off production before the official debut in the following year 1969.
For this reason, the vehicle we offer has the interior of the 4.7 installed in the factory, but the technology and the heart of the 4.9 SS 1968 can be seen. The vehicle was ordered and registered for the first time by Mr. David Stevens, son of the company’s founder Excalibur Automobile Corp. / Brook Stevens Design (USA).
The vehicle has been unrestored to this day and has matching numbers.
The pristine seats have a wonderful patina after many decades and the technology has of course always been maintained. Only the body was repainted once in the original paint to freshen up the faded metallic green and to let the vehicle shine in new splendour.
This Maserati was in the family museum „Brooks-Stevens-Museum“ for many decades and only came to Germany in 2010. The vehicle had a mileage speedometer with 13,500 miles (approx. 21,700km) installed, which was converted to a KM speedometer. The KM speedometer started at zero and has now run 14,800km in 10 years. This results in a presumably original total mileage of 36,500km. The vehicle is currently in second ownership.

Ghibli 758 was delivered in November 1968 to Italian actor Lando Buzzanca, pictured below, sitting on his car spring 1969. Delivery took place by SaMoCar Rome.
He and his family owned the car till the early eighties when it sold back to the dealer and remained in their custody till 2004.
As part of a small collection of 5 Ferrari’s and Maserati’s the Ghibli was sold by SaMoCar through Bonhams in Monaco.
That same year, Ghibli 758 ended up in the collection of the Riverside International Automotive Museum museum in California.
Co founder and owner was Doug Magnon, who died at too young age of 55 in 2015.
Early 2016 it was then decided to close down the Museum and sell the huge collection of mainly Maserati’s through Sotheby’s.
Ghibli 758 is back in Europe and currently under restoration in the Netherlands. Should be back on the road spring/early summer 2018. The car by now has covered 68 K km’s.

This 1968 Maserati Ghibli is #25 of approximately 425 SS coupes produced between 1969 and 1973 and was delivered new to Rolma Automobili S.r.l. of Milano, Italy. It was acquired out of Japan in early 2020 and subsequently imported to the US by the selling dealer, who commissioned a cosmetic refurbishment that included a bare-metal repaint in the factory shade of Verde Gemma and a reupholstered interior in Senape tan leather. Power comes from a replacement 4.7-liter quad-cam V8 paired with a ZF five-speed manual transmission, and mechanical work carried out by the selling dealer included rebuilding the carburetors, changing the fluids, and replacing the tires, cam cover gaskets, upper ball joints, fuel filters, spark plugs, and ignition wires. Additional equipment includes a Clarion AM/FM cassette stereo, pop-up headlights, four-wheel disc brakes, and 15” Campagnolo wheels. This Ghibli SS is being offered with Maserati Classiche documentation, a tool kit, car cover, and a clean Washington title.

his third owner Maserati Ghibli was originally delivered in Italy to Professor Ettore De Biasi of Genova. This is car AM115/880 was ordered on the 9th of December 1968 as can be seen on the original factory order. He chose the superb colour “Rosso Rubino” for his beloved GT. After some years with Mr De Biasi the car was bought by a German collector who owned it for over 30 years. After that it was bought by its current owner in Belgium.
This Ghibli has been body off restored with unmitigated attention to detail! Everything is now better then new.
Only the interior was kept fully original to give this Maserati just the right patina as it should be in a 50-year-old GT.
We are certain there is no second Maserati Ghibli of this quality offered on the European market at such a competitive price today.
This Ghibli comes with an extensive file which includes the full restoration report, owner history, service history and all official documents from Centro Storico Maserati in Modena.
